Just before dawn a little starfish washed upon the shore. The little starfish was so close to the waters edge, but could not make it back to the sea on her own. If she laid there too long she would eventually perish in the heat of the afternoon sun.

That very morning a young woman strolling along the beach noticed that the tides had left behind many starfish. She wondered if by herself she could save the vast number of stranded starfish on the long stretch of beach. Tenderly, she reached down and one by one gently set the small starfish back into the ocean.

When other passers-by witnessed her plight, they also began to pick up the helpless starfish, dust off the sand and place them back into the safety of the sea. When the last starfish was saved everyone was filled with joy and knew that together...they had made a difference!
